$20,000 was raised and donated to the Campus COVID-19 Relief Funds during the Challenge through #SUNYTogether.

The tournament featured 46 schools entering 139 teams with a total of nearly 500 students participating from across the SUNY system. The first-place team in each game received a $2,000 donation to the winning school’s student emergency funds. The second-place team received $1,000 and the third-place team received $500. The tournament was free to enter and all competition was held entirely online. Of the $20,000 prize pool, SUNY Chancellor Johnson committed $10,000 and co-sponsor Extreme Networks committed $10,000.
And the winners are….
Binghampton University captured the overall grand prize of $5,000 in the first-ever SUNY Canton Chancellor Esports Challenge Co-Sponsored by Extreme Networks. Binghampton’s first and second-place finishes in “Super Smash Bros Ultimate” by Nintendo along with a final four finish in Fortnite by Epic Games helped win them the top spot and a total of $8,000 in donations to the school’s COVID-19 student emergency relief fund. The school had two teams in the final four; the only college to advance both its teams into the final four in one game during the three-week tournament.
UAlbany posted a first-place victory in Fornite and a third-place finish in Rocket League by Psyonix and was awarded $5,000 in donations. SUNY Oneonta finished third overall, securing $4,000.

Extreme provided substantial event promotion and highlights throughout the tournament, including Esports Center highlight and update videos.

Additionally, most of the tournament was streamed on Twitch. The channel racked up more than 2,000 views during the competition with users logging in from 20 different countries to watch the action.
